Description
Heir to the throne, the Prince of Wales is presented in traditional portraiture style wearing full ceremonial regalia. The House of Windsor is juxtaposed against the House of Gucci, whilst Charles’ purple sash – resembling the colour of sovereignty – wraps over a jacket emblazoned with British Burberry tartan. The background is a reinvention of William Morris’ designs for the luxury store, Liberty, depicted using opulent gold leaf. The blue plumes surrounding Charles’ head pay homage to his turbulent life within the royal family, but too allude to him being a proud ambassador of British culture.
